Emerald is one of the most prized of all gemstones. It is the traditional birthstone of May and ranges in color from yellow-green to grass-green to deep shades of green. It is a fragile gemstone that should be treated with care. The best quality Emeralds are found in Colombia but are also found in other parts of South America, Africa and Asia. Emeralds have become very popular in recent years due to global green (nature) awareness. It symbolizes growth and prosperity.

綠寶石是最有價值的寶石之一，色澤從黃綠、草綠到暗綠色都有，是五月份出生的人的生日石。綠寶石是比較易碎的寶石，因此需要格外細心的照顧。質地最好的是巴西的綠寶石，然而南美洲的其他地方、非洲和亞洲地區也可見綠寶石的蹤跡。近年來隨著自然、綠化的意識升起，綠寶石越來越受大眾歡迎，同時綠寶石是茁壯以及繁榮的象徵。
